I’m fascinated by performance magic — things that performers do onstage that leave me and everyone else saying, “How did they do that?” There’s often a lot of humor involved, and that’s exactly what’s going to be onstage at the Aronoff Center’s Jarson-Kaplan Theater in two performances (4pm, 8pm) on Saturday, Jan. 24.
The Jokers of Magic — a crew of hilarious performers with astonishing skills will provide some nonstop entertainment. These guys have credits from America’s Got Talent and Penn & Teller’s Fool Us, as well as some places they suggest “it might be technically illegal to perform.” Some of these amazing guys — Eric Dittelman, Matt Donnelly, Derek Hughes, Michael Mills, Reuben Moreland and Nick Diffate — will do their best to astonish audiences and swindle their way into the hearts of everyone in attendance with two hours of tricks, lies and laughs. (They like to say that the might be the love child of Saturday Night Live and Whose Line Is It Anyway? who got sent to Hogwart’s!) That’s a remarkable lineage …
Cincinnati is one of the first stops on their two-month tour
They’re irreverent — so the show is rated PG-13 and is recommended for ages 14 and up.
Tickets are selling rapidly, and the Jarson-Kaplan can only accommodate 400 or so attendees per performance, so don’t dilly-dally with ordering tickets. Presented by the Cincinnati Arts Association, tickets start at $45.25, inclusive of all fees. Order at www.CincinnatiArts.org or call the ticket office at 513-621-2787.
