If you subscribe to SiriusXM, I hope you’re familiar with Bill Rudman’s weekly program, ON THE AISLE (you’ll find it on channel 69, ON BROADWAY, which is around-the-clock show tunes). Since 2008, Bill has given listeners the best seat in the house for an hour of songs you love from the musicals you can’t forget, linked by his engaging and insightful Broadway commentary. SiriusXM Satellite Radio broadcasts the program twice each week on channel 69 for all SiriusXM satellite radio subscribers. Catch a new program every Saturday at 3 p.m. Eastern, with an encore presentation on Tuesday at 9 p.m. Eastern. With a different title — FOOTLIGHT PARADE — the program is broadcast on more than 100 public and community radio stations in the United States and Canada (and streaming around the world online via PRX, the Public RAdio Exchange).
Back in 2021 when my Sondheim Encyclopedia was published, Bill and I recorded a series of programs about Stephen Sondheim and his numerous shows. Bill has been presenting these programs again this year — so I hope you might seek them out.
You might also want to check out Stuart Brown’s SOUNDS OF BROADWAY internet radio station. He recently aired a 25-minute conversation with me about Sondheim’s only show written for television, EVENNG PRIMROSE (1976).
I had a great time conversing with Bill and with Stuart, and I invite you to give some of our programs a listen.
