There’s proof of this headline onstage at Know Theatre right now. A year ago the stage adaptation of the 1988 action film — set during the holiday season — by A. J. Baldwin and Alexx Rouse became the company’s second most attended production. It’s back for 2025 with a script that’s a bit sharper — a more focused message and two new cast members. (In the photo below by Mikki Schaffner, Mack — in an “air duct” — is played by Rory Sheridan). It’s still a lot of intentionally amateurish satire, but audiences find it hilarious, especially those who remember the details (and in particular several memorable lines) from the 37-year-old movie about a man single-handedly fighting off a band of incompetent goons seeking to steal a load of cash. It’s onstage through Dec. 21.
